Improvements to www.ScreamingCircuits.com last month

In March 2004 we made several improvements to the functionality of www.ScreamingCircuits.com.  Based on the results of our December Survey, we added:

• Instant price quoting without registration
• Online credit card capture

Visitors to the web site can now obtain online quotes immediately without registration.  It is the first instant quoting for custom electronic assembly on the web.  Simply indicate the quantity to build and answer 5 other questions about your board and we'll give you instant pricing on up to 50 boards - perfect for prototype and low volume runs.

BGA Technology:  15 years of Innovation

In 1989, the first plastic BGA (Ball Grid Array) was invented by Motorola and Citizen.  Today, BGA packages are part of many Design Engineers parts library.  Below are some links to learn about using BGAs in your next PCB design, as well as a special offer for assembly of BGA devices.

Screaming Circuits is offering $1.50 per BGA placement on all orders of $1500 and more.  This includes up to 100 BGA placements, and includes X-ray of each BGA to verify solderability, during April and May 2004.

To redeem: Mention promotional code BGA2004 when ordering, or enter it in Step 3 of the order process online.

To learn more about the history of the BGA, and to get some guidelines for using them, check out some of the following links:

You can now submit your credit card information when ordering PCB assemblies through our website.  Our secure server will also remember your credit card information, if you prefer, making your future orders easier.  With all orders we process - all of your information is securely transferred to our website, from your design files to your credit card information.  As before, your quote is still verified by one of our team members to ensure the proper amount is charged.

We hope you'll appreciate the changes we are making, and we look forward to hearing from you next time you have a need for prototype or low volume PCB Assembly.

Helping Logitech Making Computer Sound Sparkle

When Logitech needed fast turnaround on its PCB Assemblies to keep their project on schedule, they called Screaming Circuits for help.  Screaming Circuits completed the job in 48-hours with only 24 hours notice.

Logitech boards involved the assembly of over 100 different values of parts, over 500 SMT placements top and bottom, and 75 thru-hole placements – all on a board smaller than a 5 x 7 note card.  Plus, Logitech needed the boards to perform to THX Certified Multimedia standards.  Being able to order almost the entire kit from Digikey, along with 48-hour machine placement and a Design for Manufacture Report, helped Logitech with their biggest problem – getting product to market faster.

“Screaming Circuits saved us a week in development time, and they were able to interface smoothly with our work processes.  They’re excellent at troubleshooting and error identification.  They keep us in the loop on project status, and they provide Design for Manufacturability reports which help us make timely adjustments to our designs.” - Troy Cumberbatch, PCB Designer for Logitech.
